Joseph Lester Connell

Joseph "Lester" Connell, 83, of Mansfield, passed away on Sunday, December 16, 2018 at Dayspring. Lester was born on January 20, 1935 in Mansfield, Ohio, the son of Joseph James and Irma (McGoogan) Connell.

Lester retired from General Motors after 38 years of employment. He loved the Lord, and enjoyed worshipping at First Wesleyan Church. Lester was a dedicated father, and he was the happiest when he was with his family. Never meeting a stranger, Lester made everyone he came in contact with feel like old friends. Lester was self taught in the skill of masonry, and could fix just about everything, he was a true jack of all trades. His friends could always count on him to lend a hand on any project. He loved to stay busy, was a hard worker, but did take time out from working to enjoy some fishing. Lester will be dearly missed by many.

He is survived by his daughter, Cheryl (Roger) Lewis; son, Craig (Sue) Connell; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; sister, Josie Glick; and a brother, Lawrence Ware. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn Connell; daughter, Debra Jo Connell; and his sister, Mary.

The family will observe private services. Burial will be in Mansfield Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Kidney Foundation. The Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors is honored to serve the Connell family.
