Larry Horton

Larry E. Horton, 71, of Mansfield, died Wednesday afternoon, February 11, 2015, at OhioHealth MedCentral Mansfield Hospital. He was born June 28, 1943, in Mansfield, Ohio, to the late Ralph and Helen (O'Conner) Horton.

Larry was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and member of Amvets Post #31, where he held many offices, including Chaplain and Treasurer. He found the greatest pleasure in spending time with his family and friends, most especially spoiling his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Olive (Fusco) Horton; five children, Larry "Eddie" (Annie) Horton, Sandra Horton, Rebecca (Mike) Gladden, Michelle Gladden and Doug Gladden, all of Mansfield; along with many loving grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Larry is also survived by several close and cherished friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Dawn McDermott; and two grandsons, Charlie McDermott and Dalton Horton.

The funeral service will be held Monday, February 16, 2015, at 2:00 p.m. in the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 98 S. Diamond St., Mansfield. Pastor Matthew Pond will conduct the service. The family will receive friends beginning at 1:00 p.m. Military honors will be presented by the Richland County Joint Veterans Burial Detail immediately following the service. Burial will be in Mansfield Cemetery.
