LaVerne G. Smith, 76 of Lexington died Monday November 6, 2000 at MedCentral Mansfield following a brief illness. Mr. Smith was born July 8, 1924 in Fort Wayne, Indiana residing in the Mansfield area most of his life. He retired from Essex Wire as a Mechanical Engineer.
LaVerne was a loving husband, father and grandfather and is survived by his wife, Anne Parsons Smith; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Scott S. Smith of Orrville, Ohio; James D. and Patti Smith of Ontario; one daughter and son-in-law, Shelley and Gary Armstrong of Ontario; three grandchildren, Drew and Andrea Armstrong and Matthew Smith; two sisters, Norma McKown of Beaverton, Oregon; and Barbara Beck of Brigham City, Utah; and several nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents, David S. and Mary A. Deck Smith.
Friends may call at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors on Thursday November 9, 2000 from 6-9 p.m. Private graveside services will be held at Mansfield Memorial Park at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Foundation.
