
Lena Strohminger nee Carbetta died on July 4, 2009 at Lexington Court Care Center. She was born in New York City on September 30, 1915, and spent most of her life in Mansfield. Lena was preceded in death by her parents, Carlo and Mary Plastino Carbetta, her brothers, Frank, Joe, Paul, Cosmo, Orlando, Tony, James and Fred, a sister, Rose, and two infant brothers. Her brother, Benny Carol Carbetta, of Marion, survives. Lena is also survived by twenty-five nieces and nephews, sisters-in-law, and many dear friends.
Lena was preceded in death by her husband of forty-six years, Richard Stohminger. She was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church, where contributions can be made in her memory.
Lena worked hard during her long career at Dominion Electric, and had also gone on to work with Thermo-Disc for a number of years following retirement. She loved spending time with her relatives and friends, hosting family gatherings for decades. In later years Lena enjoyed the company of her sister-in-law and care-giver, Rutha Carbetta. Lena will always be remembered as a loving aunt to her nieces and nephews and their families.
Family and friends may call at Wappner Funeral Home, 98 South Diamond Street, Mansfield, on Wednesday, July 8, 2009 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and 6:00PM to 8:00 PM, with a vigil service at 7:30 PM. A funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, July 9, 2009 at St. Peter's Catholic Church, 54 South Mulberry Street, at 10:00 am with Fr. Tony Borgia Officiating. Burial will follow at Mansfield Cemetery.
