
Leola M. Ackerman, 92, of Mansfield, died Thursday, March 16, 2006 at River Crossing in Ashland after an extended illness. Born December 31, 1913 in Johnsville, she was the daughter of Lloyd and Hazel Shafer Walters. She graduated in 1931 from Johnsville High School. Mrs. Ackerman retired from Madison Schools as a cafeteria cook. A member of the First English Lutheran Church, she loved her family and enjoyed playing Bingo.
She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Carroll Dean Joann Ackerman, and Gregg Judy Ackerman; one daughter and son-in-law, Vicki Gary Kern; grandchildren, Jody Usher, Rick Ackerman, Kristi Weber, April Kern, and Missey Kern; great-grandchildren, Abbey Kanzig Annie Lemon, Alysse Usher, Colton Ackerman, Hunter Ackerman, Amber Riggins, and Beth Ann Weber; one sister, Florence Frey of Texas; sister-in-law, Margaret
Clever of Ashland; best friend, Elinore Cunning; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Claude Ackerman; parents; and one sister, Grace Hively.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, March 21, 2006 at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors conducted by Rev. Cloyd Kress. Family and friends may call one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Mansfield Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to the First English Lutheran Church.
