

Lorie D. Smith, 50, of Shelby, died unexpectedly at her home after a long illness, Friday, January 13, 2017. She was born January 24, 1966, in Mansfield, Ohio to Raymond Calvin Smith and Evelyn Irene Lyons Smith.
Lorie had an unconditional love of all animals and especially enjoyed the company of her dog, Micro and cat, Snickers. She was a thrill seeker and enjoyed roller coasters and riding on a motorcycle. She also enjoyed playing billiards and volleyball. Her favorite musicians were Bob Seger and AC/DC. Lorie had an artistic nature and let it show in her crochet items, paintings, and various arts and crafts.
She is survived by her boyfriend of 16 years, Jesse King; three children, Raymond Powers, Jesika (Doug) Benavides and Brandie Powers, all of Shelby; the father of her children, Marvin Powers; six grandchildren, Autumn Benavides, Lily Benavides, Charlie Benavides, Joseph James Benavides, Nathan Benavides, and Felicia Gulau; two great-grandchildren, Ezekiel and Annabelle Gulau; four brothers, Brian Smith of Columbus, Harley (Ramone) Smith of Mansfield, Van Smith of Mansfield and Todd (Shanell) Smith of Piqua; and two sisters, Anita (Scott) VanHesteren of Mansfield and Christina Smith of Florida. Lorie is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews; great-nieces and nephews; aunt, Vi of California; step mother, Ginnie Smith of Bucyrus; and step father, Ron Hostetter of Mansfield.
Lorie was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond Smith and Evelyn Hostetter; uncle, Donald Smith; aunt, Martha Smith; sister-in-law, Tina Smith; and her dog, Jazper.
Memorial contributions may be made to the family in Lorie's name through Civista Bank in Shelby.
A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, February 4, 2017 at Cornerstone Grave Brethren Church, 1905 Lexington-Springmill Road conducted by Pastor Les Vnasdale.
