

Louis Curtis "Cee" Oliver, 72, of Mansfield, passed away late Monday evening, June 30, 2014 at OhioHealth MedCentral Mansfield Hospital following a hard-fought battle with an extended illness. He was born December 11, 1941 in Leland, Mississippi to the late Sudie Pearl Sylvester and Jesse James Oliver. Growing up in Strike City, Mississippi during the Civil Rights Movement, he became an outspoken but kind-hearted man. Being raised in a family of twenty children, he learned to cherish his family and most especially adored his grandchildren.
Cee worked at Mansfield Foundry, Ohio Brass and Broshco before finishing his working career as a bus driver with the Mansfield City Schools for over twelve years. He was an avid bowler, participating in leagues at both Park Lanes and Lex Lanes.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 37 years, Mamie Oliver; three sons, Louis Oliver and Reggie (Jessica) Oliver, both of Mansfield and Tommy Richardson of Cincinnati; a daughter, Annette Oliver of Portland, OR; eight grandchildren including Desonjay Taylor, Julius Oliver and Reggie Oliver. He is also survived by three brothers: Clarence Sylvester of Marion; James Sylvester of Orlando, FL; James Oliver of Lexa, AR; thirteen sisters: Emma Mae Adams of Leland, MS; Minnie Pearl Stanton of Benecia, CA; Reatha Mae Adams of Greenville, MS; Carrie Thomas of Grace, MS; Mary Parker and Virginia Sylvester of Chicago, IL; Ernestine Oliver, Suporia Woodson and Lorene Oliver of Lexa, AR; Christine Oliver of Marianna, AR; Debra Oliver and Bertha Kellybrew of Russellville, AR; and Barbara Johnson of Jonesboro, AR; special nephew, John Sylvester of Mansfield; special sister-in-law, Betty Bracey of Elmsford, NY; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and dear relatives.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his step father, John Henry Sylvester, Sr.; grandson, D.J. McCall, Jr.; sister, Corrine Sylvester; and two brothers, John Henry Sylvester, Jr. and Lee Harrison.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, July 8, 2014 from 5-7 p.m. in the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 98 S. Diamond St., Mansfield. The service will be held Wednesday, July 9, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. in the funeral home with additional visitation beginning at 12:00 p.m. Burial will follow in Mansfield Cemetery.
