

Magdalena "Peggy" Stoughton, 69, of Mansfield, passed away Sunday, January 28, 2018, with her family by her side, after a hard fought battle with cancer. She was born February 22, 1948, in Munich, Germany, to the late George and Christine (Noll) Diener.
In 1950, she and her parents emigrated to the United States. Peggy attended Newman and Simpson schools and graduated from Lexington High School in 1966. On September 8, 1967, she married the love of her life, Michael L. Stoughton. She began her working career in carpet sales working for Sears, Washington Floors and Floorcraft. In 1989, she obtained her real estate license and worked for Coldwell Banker and ReMax. She was a Past President and Board Member of the Mansfield Board of Realtors. Peggy was a Past President and Board Member of the Lexview Homeowner's Association and Board Member of the Washington Township Zoning Board.
Peggy was great at organizing an event. She was happily in her comfort zone, cooking for others and enjoyed attending neighborhood get-togethers. She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi sorority and was a foster parent for several years.
Peggy is survived by her husband of 50 wonderful years, Michael L. Stoughton; three children, M. Todd (Julie) Stoughton and their children, Megan and Melanie of White Lake, MI, Jennifer L. Broderick (Bill Reed) of Lexington, OH and Jeffrey J. (Chrissy) Stoughton and their son, Michael of Dublin, OH; brother, Paul (Lynette) Diener and their children, Leslee, Stacee and Brooke; sister, Alwine (Fred) Stull and their children, Lorie and Lindsay; and foster daughter, Lisa Vitcusky and her children, Mallory and Tyler.
The family will receive friends from 2:00-4:00 p.m. and 6:00-8:00 p.m. Friday, February 2, 2018, at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 98 S. Diamond St., Mansfield. Beta Sigma Phi Sorority will present a service at 5:30 p.m. There will be no funeral service at this time. Memorial contributions may be made to OhioHealth Foundation, Cancer Services, 180 E. Broad St., Floor 32, Columbus, Ohio 43215-9480.
The family wishes to extend their sincere gratitude to OhioHealth Hospice for the exceptional care given to Peggy and compassion shown to the family and for the many friends who loved Peggy.
