
She was born September 23, 1918 in Cleveland, but moved early in her life to Shelby where her family settled on Grand Boulevard. Her father, Howard Sotzen, was a prominent Shelby businessman. She was a graduate of Stevens College in Columbia, Missouri, a long time employee of the Mansfield News Journal, and an avid art collector. She also co-owned a gift shop called Three Wishes. Peg was a member of the Mansfield Women's Club, Questors Antique Club, Mansfield Garden Club and Mansfield Art Center. An avid golfer, she was club champion at Galion Country Club in the 1950's.
She is survived by her husband of 44 years, Maynard; children, Henry H. Diana Geary III, Nancy Jo Patrick Butler; step children, John Joyce Hopkins, Gordon Margrit Hopkins, and Richard Donna Hopkins; 15 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; and 1 great great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents, Howard and Lydia Margaret Pease Sotzen, and a sister, Mary Ann Hollinbaugh.
Memorial services will be held Friday, July 16, 2010 at 11:30 a.m. at the Diamond St. Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 98 S. Diamond St., Mansfield conducted by Rector Emeritus David S. Sipes. Friends may call one hour prior to the service from 10:30-11:30 a.m. at the funeral home. A private burial will take place in Oakland Cemetery in Shelby. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to MedCentral Hospice, 335 Glessner Ave., Mansfield, OH 44903.
