
Maria Kailer, 79, of Ontario, went home to be with the Lord early Wednesday morning, November 18, 2015, at Hospice House in Ashland, surrounded by family. She was born in Orolik, Croatia, (formerly Yugoslavia), on February 2, 1936, to the late Josef and Christina (Webel) Pfeiffer.
Maria was a giving person and always put others before herself. Her selfless acts of kindness were numerous and heartfelt. Maria was a member of Apostolic Christian Church-Middle Bellville Road-since 1959. She and her family immigrated to the United States in December 1956. In addition to being a wonderful homemaker, she worked in housekeeping at Richland Newhope and various other places. She enjoyed being outdoors, gardening and doing yard work. Singing was also a favorite pastime. Her children and grandchildren were the joys of her life.
She is survived by her husband of almost 48 years, Joseph Kailer, whom she married on December 16, 1967. She is also survived by three daughters, Heidi (Thomas) Falkenburger of Germany, Erika (Robert) Kemski of Farmington Hills, MI, Dina (Eric) Smith of Germany; eight grandchildren, Erik, Rebecca and Alissa Falkenburger, Rachel and Tyler Kemski, Kirsten, Skyler and Neil Smith; brother, John (Zuzanna) Pfeiffer of Lexington; sister-in-law, Gertrude Pfeiffer of Ontario; and thirteen nieces, nephews, and cousins, along with their families. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Adam and Peter Pfeiffer; and two sisters, Rosina Lotterer and Elisabeth Molnar.
The family welcomes friends to visit from 4-7 p.m. Friday, November 20, 2015, in the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 100 S. Lexington-Springmill Road. The funeral service will be held Saturday at 9:30 a.m. in the Apostolic Christian Church, 1332 Middle Bellville Road, Mansfield. Burial will follow in Mansfield Cemetery.
