

Marilyn was a 1949 graduate of Mansfield Senior High School and attended Worcester State College, Worcester MA and Ashland University. She retired from Mansfield City Schools in 1998, while working in the personnel department at the central office. In May, 1954, she married Richard W. Boling and she became a devoted homemaker and excellent pie baker. She loved to travel, especially to Pemaquid Point, Maine. Marilyn's smile was contagious and she always enjoyed a good laugh. She loved spending time with her family. She enjoyed sewing, knitting and reading in her spare time.
She enjoyed being “on the go” and was always up for an adventure. She was an avid card player, enjoying euchre, bridge and was a master at rummy 500. She was a member of First English Lutheran Church and attended St. Michael Lutheran Church in Mifflin. Marilyn enjoyed volunteering her time at the Renaissance Theater and Kingwood Center. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Ruth Chapter #17. Marilyn’s creativity once won her 3rd prize for a jingle she submitted to Good Housekeeping Magazine.
She leaves behind two daughters, Mickie (Steve) Chelski of Ontario and Cynthia Boling of Mansfield; granddaughter and the apple of her eye, Allison Chelski of Ontario; two sisters, Frances Pore and Patricia Myers, both of Mansfield; a sister-in-law, Shirley Boling of Mansfield; several nieces and nephews; and a large extended family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Richard W. Boling; and sister, Betty Newlon.
A memorial service will be held Sunday, September 22, 2013 at 12:00 p.m. in St. Michael Lutheran Church, 26 E. Maine St., Mifflin, Ohio. Pastor Jeff Scott will conduct the service. The family will receive friends beginning at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Northwest Ohio Division or Hospice of North Central Ohio. Wappner Funeral Directors is privileged to serve the family of Marilyn Boling.
