

Marilyn D. Benson-Metcalf, 75, of Mansfield, died Friday, November 18, 2016 at OhioHealth Mansfield Hospital. Born March 10, 1941 in Mansfield, Ohio, she was the daughter of F.W. "Hoot" and Metta Pearl (Roach) Metcalf.
She was a graduate of Mansfield Senior High School and The Ohio State University. She taught middle school Language Arts for 38 years which she was very passionate about. Marilyn was very proud of being a graduate of The Ohio State University and was an avid Ohio State football fan. She enjoyed watching the Ohio State games with her grandsons and was an all around football fan in general.
She was a very independent woman who always had a smile on her face. She enjoyed reading autobiographies, following politics and her animals, but her greatest enjoyment was spending time with her grandchildren.
She is survived by a daughter, Angela Whitlatch of Mansfield; her mother, Metta Pearl Metcalf; and three grandchildren, Riley, Hope and Daylin Whitlatch, their father, Chris Whitlatch and their grandmother, Karen Whitlatch.
She was preceded in death by her father, F.W. "Hoot" Metcalf.
Friends may call from 2-5 p.m. Saturday, November 26, 2016 at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 100 S. Lexington-Springmill Road, Ontario. Burial will be in Mansfield Memorial Park at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please send a personal note to the family.
