With deep sorrow, but faith in God’s plan we announce the passing of our beloved mother Marilyn R. Shrader, age 93, who peacefully left us on Saturday, July 12, 2025. She was born on September 30, 1931, to Leslie and Mary Blanche MacDonald. Known for her kind and generous spirit, Marilyn lived a life guided by faith, compassion, and a deep love for others. She was a dear friend, and servant-hearted community member.
Marilyn's unwavering devotion to her family and friends was the heart of who she was. She was happiest when surrounded by those she loved—her warm smile, infectious laughter, and open heart made everyone feel welcome. Whether gathered around a table playing euchre or reminiscing over fond memories, her presence brought comfort and joy.
In her younger years, Marilyn enjoyed bowling and never turned down a good card game. She enjoyed crafting with friends, often creating items for her church, where she remained deeply involved throughout her life. A faithful and active member of Main Street United Methodist Church, Marilyn served in many roles, including as past president of the Priscilla Circle, and was a cherished member of her church family.
Service to others was a cornerstone of Marilyn’s life. She was a proud and dedicated member of the VFW Post 9943 Auxiliary, serving as past president, and also held the role of past president of the Business and Professional Women’s District #3. Through every endeavor, she led with grace, humility, and a servant’s heart.
Marilyn is survived by her daughters, Diane (Dave) Clever of Mansfield and Cindy (Steve) Miller of Powell; grandchildren, Morgan (Derrick) Claprood of Lancaster and Matt (Sydney) Miller of St. Augustine, FL; step grandchildren, Jennifer (Andrew) Nicol of Mansfield and Michael (Michelle) Clever of Mansfield; great-grandchildren, Ace, Alaina, Amelia, Serena, Elizabeth and Ava; step great-grandchildren, Brooklyn, Katie, Ryan, and Kara; step great-great-grandchildren, Jaxon, Declan, and Korie; and cousins, Joanne Bowers, Carolyn Bartlet, and Forrest Tate. She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Edward “Jack” Shrader; father, Leslie S. MacDonald; mother, Mary Blanche (Westfall) Bletz; stepfather, Walter E. Bletz; grandsons, Terry and Timothy; and cousins, Frank Tate and Harold Tate.
Friends may join the family for visitation Friday, July 18, 2025, at 12:00 PM at 98 South Diamond Street, Mansfield. The funeral service will follow at 1:00 PM with Ed Stockwell officiating. Marilyn will be laid to rest at Mansfield Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Capital City Hospice.
