
Marion M. Pendleton, 80, of Mansfield, died November 16, 2008, at Brianfield at Ashley Circle in Austintown. Born September 24, 1928, in Bellville to Kenneth and Luella Mae Hall Pendleton, he was a Mansfield resident the majority of his life. Mr. Pendleton was a 1946 graduate of Mansfield Senior High School and attended Bowling Green State University. He was first employed with Pendleton's Market in Mansfield and later employed with the Westinghouse Corp. and the Frank Williams Transfer and Storage Co. of Mansfield. In 1966, he became affiliated with Central Ohio Warehouse where he served as General Manager from 1971 to 1997, continuing until 2008 as special projects manager. He was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church where he had served on church council and was a former member of St. Matthew's Lutheran Church. Mr. Pendleton was a member of Shelby Rotary Club, the Korean War Veteran's Association, Reserve Officers Association, board member of Junior Achievement of North Central Ohio and the Shelby Chamber of Commerce, and past member of the Mansfield Noon Optimist Club. During the Korean War, he served with the U.S. Army in the 44th Armored Company of the 82nd Airborne.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Rita Ferrone Pendleton, whom he wed April 24, 1949; two daughters and a son-in-law, Susan M. and Gary L. Swick of Canfield and Lynne A. Pendleton of Deltona, FL; two granddaughters, Melinda Swick of Findlay and Kelly and Ben Tran of the Dayton area; one grandson, Alexander Pendleton Swick of Canfield; a sister and brother-in-law, Marilyn Jane and Ron Zappone of Ocala, FL; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Phil B. and Marty Pendleton of Mansfield and Kenneth C. and Lynne Pendleton of Columbus; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Friends may visit from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, November 18, 2008, at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. in Holy Trinity Lutheran Church with Dr. Pentti J. Maki officiating. Burial will follow in Mansfield Memorial Park with military honors by Richland County Joint Veteran's Burial Detail. Memorial contributions may be made to Holy Trinity Lutheran Church or the Marion M. Pendleton Memorial Scholarship Fund.
