Martha Greer

Martha Ellen Britt Greer, 78, of Mansfield, passed away Wednesday, June 3, 2009 at MedCentral Mansfield Hospital following an extended illness. Born November 21, 1930 in Pikeville, Tennessee, she was the daughter of the late Eskil and Nellie Reese Britt. She moved to Mansfield in 1955 and retired from King's Department Store as a sales woman. Martha had also worked for Ruth's Mini Mart. In her earlier years, she enjoyed sewing and quilting. Martha was very family oriented and loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also enjoyed reading the Reader's Digest and loved her flowers.

She is survived by three sons, James 'Tom' Wanda Greer of Mansfield, Harold Patty Greer of Martinsville, Indiana, and Johnny Martha Greer of Mansfield; eight grandchildren, Tammy Phil Dollish of Mansfield, Judy John Fisher of Shelby, Carrie Greer of Martinsville, Indiana, Jimmy Greer, and Randy Greer, both of Mansfield, James Tina Greer of Raeford, North Carolina, Angie Thomas of Mansfield, and Elizabeth Matt Corwin of Galion; three brothers, Henry Britt of Mansfield, Clyde Barb Britt, and Leon Britt, all of Crossville, Tennessee; 13 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; special friend, Lewis Dye; and her cat, Sugar. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Linda Joyce Perkins; three brothers, RJ, Dewey, and Louie Britt; and one sister, Ann Imhoff.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, June 5, 2009 at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 100 S. Lexington-Springmill Rd., Mansfield. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home conducted by Pastor Brian Phillips. Burial will follow in Mansfield Cemetery.
