
Martha Janie Baker Hoff, 63, of Mansfield, died Monday, March 24, 2008 at her home. Born August 13, 1944 in New Albany, Indiana, she was the daughter of Donald and Martha Marie Banet Baker. She retired from the Mansfield News Journal as a legal secretary. Martha was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church, where she had been a faithful volunteer. Strong in faith and a good friend to all, she prayed for others constantly. Martha enjoyed quilting, sewing, and playing Solitaire. She was an excellent cook and baker and an unbeatable hostess. Always smiling, she also enjoyed sending handwritten letters, working crossword puzzles, and traveling.
She is survived by her husband, Gerald Hoff; two sons, Joseph Hoff of Port Clinton, and Christopher Melissa Hoff of West Chester; granddaughter, Claire Hoff of West Chester; sister, Donna Staser of Floyd Knobs, Indiana; father-in-law, Jakob Hoff, Sr. of Mansfield; brother-in-law, Jakob Karen Hoff of Port Orange, Florida; sisters-in-law, Helen Widman of Columbus, and Ann Jeanette Baker of Borden, Indiana; 12 nieces and nephews; and her many friends with her associations during life, especially at the Mansfield News Journal, Columbia Gas, and her work with Renwick, Welsh, & Burton Attorneys. She was preceded in death by her parents, Donald and Martha Baker; and one brother, Jim Baker.
Friends may call from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday, March 28, 2008 at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors where a Rosary Services will be held at 7 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Peter's Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Mansfield Catholic Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of North Central Ohio.
