
Martha ''Marie'' Hoover Ludwig, 85, of 600 S. Trimble Rd. died December 16, 2001 at Winchester Nursing Home after a brief illness. Mrs. Hoover was born January 30, 1916 in Mansfield, Ohio living in the area all of her life. She attended Ashland University and received her Bachelor of Science degree from Kent State University and her Masters in Education from the University of Wisconsin. She was employed with Mansfield City Schools where she taught at Newman and Brinkerhoff Schools for over 35 years. She was a life long member of First English Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday school for 50 years. She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma, Mansfield Nature Club, Green Thumb Garden Club, Sappho Club, Ruth Chapter 17 of the Order of the Eastern Star, A.A.R.P., Ohio Education Association, National Education Association, and Weeds Beware Garden Club. She was a Red Cross volunteer at People's Hospital and a Kingwood Center volunteer.
She is survived by her grandnephew and his wife, Robert & Kelly Ludwig and their daughters, Cassandra, Jacinda and Angelica; five cousins, Jean Banner, Robert Sheriff, Ruth Fellmeth, Charles Anthony and Richard Anthony; a second cousin, Barb Durchik; a nephew and his wife, Paul & Peg Ludwig; one stepdaughter, Helen Foster; two stepsons, Bill and Harold Ludwig; six stepgrandchildren; and two step great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, George & Rozella Sheriff Hoover; her husband, Marion Dean Ludwig; and two sisters-in-law, Eva and Irene Ludwig.
Friends may call at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors Wednesday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at First English Lutheran Church conducted by Rev. Paul L. Larson and Rev. Cloyd Kress. Burial will be in Mansfield Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to First English Lutheran Church or the Salvation Army.
