
Marvin G. Stevens, 88, formerly of Taylor Road, currently of Ranchwood Apartments, died Friday morning, August 15, 2003 at MedCentral Mansfield following an extended illness. He was born August 17, 1914 in Hanley Falls, Minnesota to Sam and Levina Gullickson Stevens. He moved to Mansfield in 1936 and retired in 1976 from Mansfield Tire where he worked as a truck driver. He was a member of First English Lutheran. Marvin loved to fish and travel and spent 23 winters in Florida. He was a huge fan of the Atlanta Braves. He was a member of the American Legion Post #16 and Retman's Club of Mansfield. Marvin, along with his six brothers all served their country during WWII. Marvin served with the U.S. Coast Guard.
He is survived by his wife, Edna Bookwalter Stevens, whom he married December 23, 1938; one sister, Wilma and James Bailey of Arcadia, California; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Ray and Beverly Stevens of North Fort Myers, Florida, LeVern and Mary Stevens of Mansfield, and Charles and Myrtle Stevens of Appleton, Minnesota; three sisters-in-law, Isabel Stevens of North Fort Myers, Florida, Carol Stevens of Mansfield and Opal Stevens of San Diego, California; and many nieces and nephews whom he dearly loved. He was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers, Archie, Leslie, Larry, and infant brother, Charles Stevens.
Friends may call at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, Sunday, August 17 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Funeral services, conducted by Rev. Cloyd E. Kress will be held Monday, at 3:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Military graveside services will be held in Mansfield Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to MedCentral Hospice or First English Lutheran Church.
