

Mary 'Glenda' Blackwell, 63, of Ontario died at home Monday morning, February 9, 2004 following a brave 5-month battle with cancer. Glenda went home to be with her Lord and Savior surrounded by her loving family. Mrs. Blackwell was born May 18, 1940 in Limestone County, Alabama living in the Mansfield area since 1958. She was a member of the Lincoln Heights Baptist Church where she taught children's Sunday school, served on the social and kitchen committee and sang in the choir. She loved and enjoyed her grandchildren as well as serving her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ through her church.
She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Leon Blackwell Jr. of Ontario; a son and daughter-in-law, Norval & Kim Blackwell of Mansfield; a daughter and son-in-law, Cindy & Tim Ling of Mansfield; five grandchildren and spouses, Erica & Ben Rader, Lindsay Ling, Ryan & Shawna Blackwell, Katie Blackwell and Emily Ling; three great-grandchildren, Chase Blackwell, Keegan Blackwell and Elizabeth Rader; her mother, Beulah Beatrice Rucker Pepper of Alabama; mother-in-law, Rosa Blackwell of Mansfield; a brother, Tony Pepper of Huntsville, Alabama; brother-in-law, Bobbie T. Sanders of Mansfield; numerous nieces and nephews; and special friends Gregory & Allie Atkinson. She was preceded in death by her father, William R. Pepper; two sisters, Imogene Sanders and Claudine Waddell; and her father-in-law, Leon Blackwell Sr.
Friends may call at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors Wednesday from 4-8 p.m. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home conducted by Pastor Mike Wilson. Burial will follow in Mansfield Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to Lincoln Heights Baptist Church Building Fund.
