
Mary A. Shaffer, 91, of Mansfield died Wednesday, October 1, 2003 at Oak Grove Manor after a brief illness. She was born August 31, 1912 in Austria, Hungary and was a Mansfield area resident most of her life. She had retired from Westinghouse where she worked in the advertising department. Mary was a member of Eagles Auxiliary, V.F.W. Post #9943 Auxiliary, Moose Lodge #341 and Mansfield Liederkranz.
She is survived by her son, Alton G. Speakman, Jr. of California; grandchildren, Debbie Lacey, Cindy Connell, Randy Speakman, Tammy Speakman, Robert Speakman and Karen Ladner; several great-grandchildren; brother, Robert Bajai of Springfield, Ohio; in-laws, Richard and Margueritte Shaffer and Eugene and Audrey Shaffer, all of Johnsville; and special nephew, Gary Ernsberger of Arizona. She was preceded in death by her mother, Eva Bajai; first husband, Alton Speakman, Sr.; son, Charles Speakman, Jr.; one brother; one sister; and one great-grandson, Charles.
Graveside services will be held Saturday, October 4 at 10:30 a.m. at Shauck Cemetery, conducted by Rev. David Sipes. Memorial contributions may be made to Children's Hospital in Columbus and left in care of the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors.
