Mary Fama Vieceli Valerio, 93 of Mansfield, passed away Saturday, July 18, 2009. She was born March 16, 1916 to the late Joseph and Catherine Fama. Mary had a love for her family and God. She will be remembered for the love and kindness to all she knew. Mary loved the summer months and spent all day outside planting in her garden and giving special care to all for her beautiful garden of flowers. She would feed the birds, but would give the rabbits and deer a few words in Italian to get out of her gardens. She had humor even to her last days. If ever there be a garden of flowers in heaven, Mary will be there pulling weeds and caring for them as she did her own. Mary will be so very much missed by her family and friends. She worked at Dominion Electric for 28 years.
Preceding her in death were her parents; a baby daughter; brother, Eugene Fama; sisters, Janie Stiteler, and Patsy Burkhart. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, Louis Vieceli, and second husband, John Valerio.
She is survived by her son, Bert Gay Vieceli of Oregon; granddaughter, Stephanie Chuck Apidone; the love of her life, grandson, Nick Kim Gibson; three great-grandchildren, Devin, Owen, and Katelyn Gibson; sisters, Rose Mick Fanello, Eve McCarrick, and Fran Bender, all of Mansfield, Tresa Jack Wehinger of Wisconsin, Jo Duane Touby, and Toni Thompson; brother-in-law, C.L. Thompson of Mansfield; and many nieces and nephews.
There will be no calling hours. A private graveside service will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary's Catholic Church, 1630 Ashland Rd., Mansfield, Ohio 44905. The Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors is privileged to serve the family of Mary Valerio.
