Duffy was a former long time resident of California as well as the Florida Keys. He enjoyed being a father and grandfather and cherished each moment with them. Duffy was a Pioneer member of the Buddhist Organization, Soka Gakkai International.
He is survived by a daughter, Jesse (Rusty) Alverson; and two grandchildren, DJ Johnson and Caroline Alverson. He was preceded in death by his parents, Fernon William Andrew Higel and Helen Underwood Higel.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date. The Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors is privileged to serve the family.
