
Michael D. Lang, 47, of Butler, died unexpectedly Thursday, March 30, 2006 at Riverside Methodist Hospital. Born April 15, 1958 in Mansfield, he was the son of Glenn Lang and Rose Mary Wiegman Martin. A 1976 graduate of St. Peter's High School, he attended Ohio Dominican, and graduated from Bowling Green State University. He also received his Masters Degree from Ashland University. Mr. Lang was a social studies teacher at Mansfield Senior High School. He was the head coach for boy's and girl's basketball at Northwestern High School in West Salem, and for boy's basketball at St. Peter's High School. He also assisted at Lucas High School. Mr. Lang enjoyed working with kids and coaching AAU boys' and girls' basketball, as well as flag football and grade school basketball. For the past two years, he also served as president of the Clear Fork Athletic Booster's Club. Mr. Lang most enjoyed his years working at the Mansfield Alternative School.
He is survived by his wife of 23 years, Elizabeth 'Beth' Browne Lang; daughter, Amy Lang of Butler; two sons, Joshua and Justin Lang, both of Butler; six brothers and sisters, Joan Marvin Ellis of Mansfield, Steve Lang of Kenosha, Wisconsin, Dave Cathy Lang of Fostoria, Cindy Jim McNeilis of Dublin, Cathy Lang of Denver, Colorado, and Rick Chris Lang of Oklahoma; father, Glenn Lang of Mansfield; mother, Rose Mary Bill Martin of Mansfield; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Bob Sue Browne of Silver Lake; brother-in-law, Rob Kelly Browne of Kent; numerous nieces and nephews; and many, many friends. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Donald and Helen Wiegman, and uncle, Richard Wiegman.
Friends may call from 2 to 7 p.m. Sunday, April 2, 2006 at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Mansfield Cemetery. Memorial contributions in Mike's memory may be made to scholarship funds at Mansfield Senior and Clear Fork High Schools.
