

Michael J. Sikish, 84, of Mansfield, died June 18, 2004, at OSU Medical Center. Mike went to join his wife, Margarete, early Friday morning. He was born September 27, 1919, in Dilles, Ohio to Jacob and Pauline Kasunich Sikish. He retired as a bricklayer and was a member of Bricklayers Union, Local #40 and attended St. Peter's Catholic Church. Mike proudly served his country during WWII in the European Theater, serving under General George Patton with the 3rd Army, 11th Armored Division. He achieved the rank of Tech 3rd Grade and was awarded 3 Bronze Battle Stars for his participation at Rhineland, Germany and Ardennes.
He is survived by three nieces, Paula Del Prado of Anthem, Arizona, Michelle McCloud of Tucson, Arizona and Barbara Dewitt and her husband, Michael of West Linn, Oregon; four nephews and their spouses, Richard and Janie Taylor of Lapeer, Michigan, Al and Lynn Veto of Bellingham, Washington, John and Cindy Sikish of Bannock, Ohio, and Joseph Del Prado of Anthem; fifteen great-nieces and nephews, Justin, Jarrod, Dacia, Samantha, John, Jason, Jamie, Janna, Jodie, Barry, Cheryl, Todd, Darrin, Josh and Shawn; and his special feline friend, Missy. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Margarete Schwarz Sikish and his parents.
Friends may call at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, Wednesday, June 23 from 6-8 p.m. Graveside services will be held Thursday at 1:00 p.m. in Mansfield Catholic Cemetery, with full military honors conducted by Richland County Joint Veteran's Council.
