
Mona I. 'Mo' Minich, 71, of Mansfield died suddenly, Saturday morning, August 16, 2003, at MedCentral Mansfield Hospital. She was born August 5, 1932 in Mansfield to Lee and Iris Botorf Hammett and was an area resident her entire life. Mo graduated from Mansfield Senior High in 1950 and was a 50-year member of Park Avenue Baptist Church. She was active with the Reach to Recovery Program for the American Cancer Society and had received the 'Volunteer of the Year' award for her service. She was an active volunteer for the Renaissance Theater and the Miss Ohio Pageant for 15 years. Sewing, music and spending the winters in Florida were favorite activities for her. She loved her children and grandchildren immensely.
Survivors include her husband of 52 years, Ralph Minich; son and daughter-in-law, Bruce and Susan Minich of Mansfield; two daughters and a son-in-law, Susan and Rusty Cates of Mansfield and Pamela Minich of Houston, Texas; five grandchildren, Jessica Minich, Carli Minich, Kelly, Natalie and Benjamin Cates; brother and sister-in-law, Joseph and Linda Hammett of Pompano Beach, Florida; sister and brother-in-law, Ruth and Tom Etzwiler of Mansfield; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and a son.
Friends may call at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, Tuesday, August 19 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral services conducted by Rev. Carol Kautz will be held Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Mansfield Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Park Avenue Baptist Church or the Pat Kracker Breast Cancer Fund.
