
Norman Scott Hall, 86, died Thursday, August 9, 2007 at MedCentral Mansfield Hospital. Born December 23, 1920 in Cygnet, the son of Norman E. and Ida D. McElroy Hall. He graduated from Crestline High School in 1938 where he played end on the football team and was captain of the basketball team, earning All-Ohio honors for basketball. He attended First Christian Church and Marion Avenue Grace Brethren. He retired from Westinghouse Corp. after 34 years of service as supervisor of the shipping department. Norman was a member of Mansfield Masonic Lodge #35, F. & A.M., and V.F.W. Post #3494. He was a veteran of WWII, serving in the Persian Gulf Command from October 1942 to November 1945 with Company F, 363D Engineers. He was a member of the North Central Ohio Umpires Association and was licensed to officiate softball and football through the Ohio High School Athletic Association.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Elaine Marlow Hall; daughter and son-in-law, Carolyn and Richard Geiger, their children, Jennifer Greg Burks, Melissa Greg Vance Shalosky, Eric Kathleen Geiger and Matthew fiancée, Michelle Kucan Geiger and their grandchildren, Chelsea, Kyle, Lucas, Brandon, Sarah, Chance, Connor and Aiden; son and daughter-in-law, Norman S. Jr. and Terry Hall, their children, Laura Anthony Vondy, Elizabeth Hall, Emily Hall and Brian Hall, and their grandchildren, Elizabeth, Caitlyn and Tiffany; and a number of nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were his parents, brother, Harvey Hall and sisters, Betty Sheridan and Ruth Hall.
Friends may call from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday, August 12 at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors with Masonic services at 8:30 p.m. Funeral services conducted by Rev. Lester Vnasdale will be Monday, 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Military graveside services conducted by Richland County Joint Veteran's Burial Detail will follow in Mansfield Cemetery.
