
Olive "Jane" Freed passed away after a long illness on Friday, June 11, 2010 at the age of 91. Jane was a 40-year resident of Lexington, Ohio. She retired after 38 years of service as a block operator for the Pennsylvania/Conrail Railroad. She was a recognized artist and musician during her life. She was the organist for several years at First Presbyterian Church of Lexington, Ohio, also, the First Methodist Church of Racine, Pennsylvania and the First Methodist Church of Freedom, Pennsylvania.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William J. Freed, Sr. who also was a block operator for the same railroad. She is survived by one daughter, Diana Mrs. Louis Gaul of Lexington; two sisters, Marjorie Stockwell of Rogersville, MO and Lois Cordes of Orlando, FL; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral arrangements are with the Todd Funeral Home in Beaver, Pennsylvania and interment will be at the Oak Grove Cemetery in Freedom, Pennsylvania, where she will rest with her grandmother, mother, father and sister. Remembrances may be made to the Alzheimer's Association of Northeast Ohio. Her family wishes to thank Wappner Funeral Directors of Mansfield for graciously assisting the Todd Funeral Home of Beaver in her final journey home.
