
Orville L. Hayes, Jr., 67, of Mansfield, died Tuesday evening, July 26, 2005 at Country Meadows Nursing Home in Bellville after an extended illness. Born December 6, 1937 in Mansfield, he was the son of Orville L. and Geneveve Rachel Hayes, Sr. He retired from National Machine Company as the Vice President of Engineering. Mr. Hayes was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ. A modest and kind man who loved his family, he was a very intelligent man who invented and designed countless machines and techniques.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Jacqueline 'Jackie' Stirtzinger Hayes; four sons and daughters-in-law, Greg and Mona Hayes of Toledo, Tim and Debi Hayes of Lexington, Mike and Amy Hayes of Michigan, and James and Dee Hayes of Mansfield; six grandchildren, Melissa and Kristine Hayes of Toledo, Matthew and Amanda Hayes of Lexington, and Jordan and Jakob Hayes of Mansfield; one brother and sister-in-law, William and Mary Hayes of Bellville; one sister and brother-in-law, Pat and Helen O'Connell of Mansfield; and several nieces, nephews, and other dear relatives and friends.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, July 29, 2005 at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home with Rev. Lon McSherley officiating. Burial will follow in Mansfield Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to St. John's United Church of Christ.
