

Paul Nick George, 62, of Mansfield died unexpectedly Tuesday afternoon, February 29, 2000, at MedCentral Mansfield Hospital. He is survived by his beloved wife of 38 years, Antina Donis-Vellios George; a son, Dr. Christopher Paul George of Mansfield; a daughter and son-in-law, Susie Ann & Matthew David Watson of Columbus; two grandchildren, Michael Matthew Evangelos Watson and Jonathan Paul Watson; two brothers, Alex George of Columbus and Lazo George of Mansfield; his mother-in-law, Anna Vransidis of Melbourne, Australia; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Nick & Stoina Tunteff Tanchevich-George born in Sapari, Macedonia.
Mr. George was born January 16, 1938 in Mansfield, Ohio living in the area all of his life. He retired as manager of the City of Mansfield Repair Garage after 33 years of service. He was a member of Saints Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church where he was the first baby to be baptized. His service to the church included Parish Council member for many years, past vice president of the Parish Council, active member of the church advisory board for the Annual Greek Festival, and a volunteer for various other activities. He also volunteered at St. Gregory Palamas Monastery in Hayesville, Ohio. Mr. George spent nearly all of his free time during his retirement years helping in some capacity at the church, often seven days a week. He was a Mason and a member of AHEPA, a church organization. He served in the Ohio Army National Guard during the Cuban Missile Crisis.
Friends may call at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors Friday from 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. where a Trisagio service will be held at 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 4, 2000, at 11:00 a.m. at Saints Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church conducted by Father Nicholas Hughes and Father Seraphim Dedes. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions be made to Saints Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church, 265 W. 3rd Street, Mansfield, Ohio 44902. Burial will be in Mansfield Cemetery.
