

He was born on February 19, 1922 in Indianapolis, IN to Paul & Zelma (Heide) Hoffman. He married his sweetheart, Betty M. (Calderhead) Hoffman on March 20, 1948 who survives him.
He was a Second Lt. of World War II proudly serving his country as a pilot in the United States Air Force with most of his time flying B24's. He became the Chief engineer for Shafer Valve. Later he was a general contractor building many homes and businesses in the Mansfield area. In his spare time, Paul enjoyed hiking the Appalachian Trail.
He attended Mansfield Gospel Hall and was an elder there for many years. He accepted Christ as his personal Savior when he was 13 and he loved telling others about the one who died to save him from his sins. He loved spending time with family and friends.
Along with his wife, he is survived by their six children, Barb (Gary) Vanderbilt of Mansfield, Deb (David) Brown of Mansfield, Becky (Derek) Cunningham of Uniontown, OH, Mary (Jack) Coleman of Hatboro, PA, John (Ruth) Hoffman of Mansfield and Cilla (Kevin) Buck of Twinsburg, OH; 22 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Margaret Hambright and Evelyn Clawson; and a brother, Bill Hoffman.
Friends may call Friday, October 7, 2011 from 5-8 p.m. at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 98 S. Diamond Street, Mansfield. Funeral services will be on Saturday, October 8, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home conducted by his son- in-law, Jack Coleman. Burial will follow in Mansfield Cemetery where full military honors will be conducted by the Richland County Joint Veterans Burial Detail. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of North Central Ohio.
