
Pauline E. Ferguson nee Rogers, 93, of Ashland, Ohio died April 21, 2010, at Kingston of Ashland following a six month involvement with a brain tumor. She was born September 5, 1916, and lived her entire life in Ashland. Pauline graduated from Ashland High School and Ashland College with a B.S. in Education. She was Ashland College's first homecoming queen. Pauline also received an interior design degree from Northwestern University. She taught school in Ashland for a few years, married Dr. Robert James Ferguson on May 28, 1942, and after the World War II War started a family. Pauline enjoyed golf, bowling, flower arranging and playing cards. She was an active Trinity Lutheran Church member, serving on several committees. She enjoyed playing duplicate bridge, being an AA Sorority member and helping others. Pauline was a part owner and worked many years at the Gilbert Furniture Company in Ashland with family members.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Robert J. Ferguson; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Ben and Gretchen Ferguson; her parents, Alpha and Vera Rogers; a brother, Gilbert Rogers; a sister, Cecil Paul Simmons; and a sister-in-law, Rosemary Helbert.
Pauline is survived by her daughter, Ann E. Ferguson of Ashland; her son, Jim Mary Ferguson; grandchildren, Bob, Meg and Molly Ferguson of Vermillion, Ohio; sister-in-law, Carol Rogers, and nieces, Ruth Helbert Cellar, Jane Helbert Karras, Peggy Simmons Surdyk, Barb Rogers Denbow; and nephews, Roger Simmons, and Thom, Phill and Steve Rogers; and a cousin, Mary Lou Wertman.
Pauline will be missed by all who knew her.
Private services were held and internment was at the Ashland Cemetery. The family suggests that any memorial contributions could be made to Trinity Lutheran Church of Ashland, or Hospice of North Central Ohio, or to help the children who are unable to pay their school fees at the, Ashland City Schools, 416 Arthur Street, Ashland, OH 44805 and to the Vermillion Local Schools, 1230 Beechview Drive, Vermillion, OH 44089.
