Raymond was born on May 1, 1941 in Cleveland, Ohio to Joseph Sr. and Rose (Burakowski) Sasarak. He was a graduate of James Ford Rhodes High School. He received his bachelor of science degree from The Ohio State University and his masters degree at Indiana University. He taught for 32 years at Madison Schools and coached freshman basketball at Madison South. A devoted grandfather, Raymond loved watching his grandsons’ sporting activities. One of his favorite past times was vacationing at the beach. He was an avid football fan, watching Ohio State and Cleveland Browns. He also enjoyed watching Ancient Aliens and Diners, Drive Ins and Dives on the food channel.
Raymond leaves behind his wife of 52 years, Sherry (Dicus) Sasarak; his children, Stephanie (Kent) Kauffman and Gregory (Jennifer) Sasarak; his grandsons, Brandon and Hunter Kauffman; his siblings, Joseph Sasarak Jr. and Sonia Sasarak; his sister-in-law, Barbara Duncan; his nieces and nephews, Angela Fennewald, Robin (Tommy) Hale, Matt (Kristen) Duncan and Jeff Sasarak; and several great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his nephew, Jason Sasarak.
Family and friends may visit from 4:00-6:00 pm on Friday, January 24, 2025 at Wappner Funeral Directors-Mansfield, 98 S. Diamond Street. An additional hour of calling will be held from 10:00-11:00 am on Saturday, January 25, 2025 at the funeral home. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 am. Raymond will be laid to rest in Bellville Cemetery.
