
Raymond Lafe 'Buddha' Walters passed away peacefully Saturday evening, October 10, 2009, in the presence of his family. He was born November 19, 1958, to Joseph and Phyllis Walters of Crestline. He was a 1977 graduate of Crestline High School and served in the United States Navy. Raymond had been employed with Gledhill Road Machine in Galion until his illness. He had attended both Bethel Baptist and Bucyrus Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Bonnie Stevens Walters; three daughters, Rachel Lindsay, Kati Jo and Ginny Rose; three grandbabies, Landon Kale, Halle Rae and Jaxon Lane. In addition to his parents, Joe and Pete Walters, he leaves behind two sisters, Leona and Phillip Parr and Lynn and David Hunt; one brother, Wince and Amy Walters; a sister-in-law, Paula Walters; and their children, Joe, Valerie and Benji Estep, Sarah; Cody, Kyle, Chris; T.J., Crystal and Ben Lowe, Chez, Jayden and Gage; three great-nieces, Tristen, Caylin and Lillian; and two great-nephews, Jordan and Nathaniel. Also left behind is his mother-in-law, Frances Stevens; her children, John, Judy, Roy and Anita; her grandchildren, Bryan, Cassie, Garrett Lafe; Justin and Heather, Jona, Jeremy; Samantha, Blake; Holly and Matthew; and her great-grandchildren, Tyler Lee, Bryleigh Ann and Beckam Lafe Mitchell. 'Buddha' also leaves behind many cherished aunts, uncles, cousins and many, many good friends. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Lafe and Ethel Walters, Raymond and Dorie Harr and Frank and Espanola Moran; father-in-law, Leroy Stevens; and sister-in-law, Leisha Ann Stevens Pelfrey.
Friends may visit from 5-8 p.m., Thursday, October 15, 2009, at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 100 S. Lexington-Springmill Road, Mansfield. Funeral services will be held Friday at 1:30 p.m. led by Pastor Matthew Pond and Pastor Eric Boggs. Burial will follow in Mt. Olivet Cemetery with military honors by the Richland County Joint Veterans Burial Detail. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in care of the family.
