Rev. Dennis Rock

Rev. Dennis F. Rock, 50, of Shelby, went home to be with the Lord Tuesday, September 1, 2009, at his residence. Born August 21, 1959, in Mansfield, he was the son of Jack and Linda L. Bowman Rock. He was a 1978 graduate of Mansfield Senior High School and was a franchise agent for Greyhound Bus Lines of Mansfield. Dennis retired in 2008 following 25 years of service and his wife, Shelby, then took over the business. An evangelist and gospel singer, he traveled the United States with "The Sounds of Victory" and loved being with his family and friends from the Promise Land Fellowship Church. Dennis loved nature, especially eagles, and enjoyed cooking and baking. He was a wonderful family man who will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew him.

Surviving are his wife of five years, Shelby J. Tackett Rock; his mother and step-father, Linda and John Stutz of Ashland; five children, each having a special place in his heart, Sabrina Rock, Amy Nick Zickefoose, Tiffany Clagg, Maria Rock and James "Bubba" Rock; a brother, John Rock of Galion; two sisters, Belinda Don Schultz of Aurora, CO and Tammy Rock of Mt. Vernon; two step-brothers, Bryon Angie Stutz and John B. Stutz all of Ashland; and Shelby's family who loved him dearly. He was preceded in death by a brother, Michael A. Rock in 1962.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, September 5, 2009, at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 98 S. Diamond St., Mansfield, OH 44902, conducted by Rev. Rick Wiseman. Friends may call one hour prior to the services, from 1:00-2:00 p.m., at the funeral home on Saturday. Memorial contributions may be made to the family.
