
Rev. Edward F. Brandt, 74, of Ashland, died Monday, December 4, 2006, at the Good Shepherd Home following a long illness. He was born October 17, 1932, in Defiance County to Edward A. and Wilhemina Plassman Brandt. He attended Capital University in Columbus from 1951 to 1953 and finished his undergraduate work at Texas Lutheran College, graduating in 1954. He graduated from the Lutheran Seminary in Columbus, Ohio, in 1958 and was ordained in 1959. Rev. Brandt was an ordained minister of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. He served Grace Lutheran Church in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada; Trinity Lutheran Church in Willard; and Mt. Zion Lutheran Church in Lucas. Before retiring, he served as interim pastor at the following Lutheran congregations in Ohio: First, Findlay, St. John, New Washington, St. Paul, Ontario and Crouse Memorial in Tiro. He was married to Beverly Mehaffie Brandt in Canton, Ohio in 1958 who survived him.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Ralyne Marc Hall of Richmond, Virginia and Janis Joel Marhenke of Mansfield; and two grandchildren, Bailey and Casey Hall. He was preceded in death by his parents and son, Daryl.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, December 8 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 508 Center St., Ashland, with Rev. Dr. Sanford C. Mitchell officiating. Friends may call at the church from 12-1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Fund for Leaders in Mission, ELCA Foundation, 8765 W. Higgins Rd., Chicago, Illinois 60631, Hospice of North Central Ohio, 1605 Co. Rd. 1095, Ashland, Ohio 44805, or a charity of the donor's choice. The Ashland Home of Wappner Funeral Directors assisted the family with arrangements.
