
Rev. Robert A. Meyer, age 68, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, March 30, 2001. He was born December 1, 1932 in Mansfield to the late Paul and Margaret Buxmann Meyer and has been a lifelong resident. Mr. Meyer graduated from Mansfield Sr. High in 1951; went to St. Paul Bible Institute in St. Paul, MN; Prairie Bible College in Three Hills Alberta Canada and graduated from the Dayton Bible Institute in 1954. He was ordained with the United Pentecostal Church International. He began his early ministry at the Band Shelter on the square in Mansfield in 1952. He was founder of the First Apostolic Church and pastored that church for 38 years. Bishop Meyer had gone on several missionary trips preaching around the world. At the time of his death he was the Bishop of Christian Life Center where his son Mark is currently pastor. He was a kind, compassionate, patient, loving and forgiving man who truly had a pastor's heart.
Surviving are his wife, Dolores A. Lunsford Meyer; two sons and daughter-in-law, Robert Alan Meyer and Pastor Mark Anthony and Marilyn Meyer, both of Mansfield; his favorite grand daughter, Valerie Meyer Slaton of Mansfield; four grandsons, Keith Meyer of Columbus, Mark A. Meyer, Jr. of Stockton, CA, Nathan Paul Meyer of Mansfield and Jared D. Meyer of Manfield; three great granddaughters, Hayley, Lauren and Breeanna; one sister and brother-in-law, Martha M. and Glenn Baker of Mansfield; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Samuel, Walter and Karl Meyer.
Friends may call at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors on Tuesday, April 3, 2001 from 2-4 p.m. & 7-9 p.m. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 4th at 11:30 a.m. at First Assembly of God, 1000 McPherson Rd., Mansfield, conducted by Pastor W.L. Sciscoe. In Lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to R.A. Meyer Fellowship Hall. Burial will be in Mansfield Memorial Park
