

Richard graduated from Mansfield Senior High School. He went on to join the Army and served during World War II in Central Europe and Rhineland. A very well liked man, Richard enjoyed sports very much. He played basketball in his early years and more recently was on the All Star golf league at Wooldridge Golf Club. Richard loved playing poker and all card games, having played on several leagues. Whether it was Cleveland Indians baseball, OSU football, or Cleveland Cavaliers basketball, you could always find Richard watching a game.
Surviving are his sons, Richard Jr. (Joyce) Hamilton of Mansfield and Rod (Stephanie) Hamilton of Lucas; seven grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren and one more on the way; and sister-in-law, Darlene Bradford of Scottsdale, AZ.
Along with his parents, Richard was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Jean (Hamman) Hamilton; daughter, Sherry Brauchler; and brother, Wilbur Hamilton.
Memorial services will be held Friday, January 16, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 98 S. Diamond Street, Mansfield, conducted by Pastor Jon Priebe. Family and friends are invited to visit for one hour prior to the service from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Military services presented by the Richland County Joint Veterans Burial Detail will take place at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Mansfield Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of North Central Ohio, 1050 Dauch Drive, Ashland, OH 44805.
