

Richard L. Hanlon, 75, of Mansfield died early Saturday morning, September 4, 2004 at MedCentral Mansfield following a brief illness. He was born June 30, 1929 in Blooming Grove, Ohio to the late James and Edna Gottfried Hanlon. Richard graduated from Galion High School and was a very caring and loving man who always had a smile on his face. He was a member of the First Church of the Brethren where he served as a Deacon, and had also served as the treasurer. Richard was a US Army veteran serving during the Korean Conflict. He was active in the VFW Post # 7651 and had also worked their food trailer. Richard enjoyed jigsaw puzzles, word searches, and cooking at church.
He is survived by his wife Margaret, whom he married August 27, 1950; a son and daughter-in-law, Randy and Brenda Hanlon of Crestline; a daughter and son-in-law, Kim and Steve Geary of Shelby; four grandchildren, Aaron and his wife, Melissa Hanlon, Danny Hanlon, Jessica Thomas, and Christian Geary; a brother, Harold Hanlon of Galion; and twin sisters and their spouses, Darlene and Jerry Stief of Galion and Marlene and Darrell Rader of Woodstock, Illinois. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Ralph Hanlon of Galion; and a daughter-in-law, Rae-Ann Hanlon.
Friends may call at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors Tuesday, September 7, 2004 from 5-8 p.m. Funeral services, conducted by Rev. Linda Lewis and Rev. Clyde Fry, will be Wednesday, September 8, 2004 at the First Church of the Brethren at 10:30 a.m. Military graveside services will follow in Mansfield Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Church of the Brethren.
