

Richard Eugene Sauder, Sr., 73, of Lucas, died Wednesday evening, September 26, 2001 at MedCentral Mansfield Hospital after a brief illness. He was born August 27, 1928 in Mansfield to William J. and Mary Fuhrer Sauder. Richard served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He retired after 37 years at General Motors and from Lucas schools as a bus driver. He was a member of the Apostolic Christian Church on Illinois Avenue.
He is survived by his wife, Caroline Hart Sauder, whom he married March 17, 1956. He is also survived by nine sons and eight daughters-in-law, Richard Sauder, Jr., Randy & Pam Sauder of Mansfield, Ed & Paula Sauder, Gary & Vicki Sauder, Terry Hoss & Helen Sauder, Greg & Melissa Sauder, Brian & Danyelle Sauder, Bruce & Denise Sauder, Dale & Dannette Sauder all of Lucas; two daughters and one son-in-law, Linda Sauder and Vickie & Ron Kirschenmann of Lucas; thirty-five grandchildren; three brothers and their spouses, Elmer Bud Sauder, Kenneth & Sue Sauder all of Mansfield and Don & Faye Sauder of Nashville, TN; two sisters and their spouses, Alice & Frank Graszl of Mansfield and Evelyn & Eli Manz of Paulding, OH; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Robert Sauder, and three sisters, Marie Fulk, Ruth Weiss, and Mildred Dolce.
Friends may call at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors Friday, September 28 from 2-8 p.m. and one hour prior to services at the church Saturday. Funeral services will be Saturday at the Apostolic Christian Church on Illinois Avenue at 11:00 a.m. conducted by the Apostolic Christian Church. Burial will follow in Lantz Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Lymphoma and Leukemia Society.
