
Richard W. ''Shorty'' Turner, age 74, of 694 W. Longview Avenue, died Monday evening June 19, 2000 at MedCentral/Mansfield Hospital following an extended illness. Mr. Turner was born April 20, 1926 in Crestline, Ohio living here all of his life. He was a former chef at Westbrook County Club and Brown Derby and General Manager for Stewarts Root Beer Inc. Mr. Turner attended Hannah Road Church of Christ in Christian Union. He was a veteran of the United States Army serving during World War II.
Surviving are his wife, Betty Jane Turner; a son and daughter-in-law, Robert R. & Sandra Turner of Bellville, Ohio; a daughter and son-in-law, Barb and Robert J. Burton of Mansfield, Ohio; seven grandchildren, Scott, Richard, Heather, Amber & Tim Burton, Kelly Berrier and her husband, Jeff all of Mansfield, and Brent Turner of Shelby; and three great-grandchildren, Tyler, Paul and Andrew Burton of Mansfield. He was preceded in death by his parents, Reese H. & Hannah Williams Turner.
Friends may call at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors Wednesday from 7-9 p.m. Memorial services will be held Thursday at 2:30 p.m. at the funeral home, conducted by Rev. Arthur L. Lowe and assisted by Rev. Perry Brafford. Military graveside services will be at Mansfield Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
