
Richard "Rick" Lee Vance, 52, of Mansfield, died Saturday, January 22, 2011, at his residence. Born September 8, 1958, in Mansfield, he was the son of Joseph W. and Lillian Boyce Vance. He retired from the Mansfield City Water Department as a Supervisor in 2001 after 24 years of service. Known as a kind, honest person, Rick was always there for his family and was nicknamed "Mr. Doctor" as he could fix anything. As a teenager, he belonged to the "Sea Cadets" which he was very proud of. Rick played guitar with his brother and his love for music was exemplified by his playing guitar. He belonged to "Survivors" motorcycle club and enjoyed riding Harley's with his wife Ro. He also enjoyed making jewelry and playing video games.
Surviving are his wife, Rodeen Vance; his parents, Joseph W. and Lillian Vance; a daughter, Ren Shawn Hutchins; a step-daughter, Shauna Beck; two step-sons, David Tiffany Casler and Darrin Casler; a brother, David Sue Vance; a sister-in-law, Shelly Doug Beugly; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandparents and his mother-in-law and father-in-law.
Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday, January 25, 2011, at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 98 S. Diamond St., Mansfield. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, January 26, 2011, at the funeral home conducted by his cousin, Rev. Joseph P. Vance. Burial will follow in Windsor Park Cemetery.
