
Robert H. Dishong, 88, of Ashland, died Saturday, June 24, 2006, at Good Shepherd Nursing Home. Born August 10, 1917, in East Liverpool, OH, he was the son of Caleb and Nellie Huntsman Dishong. Mr. Dishong was a retired truck driver and had also worked as a security guard and was a farmer. He was a member of the Taylor Town Community Church and was an avid bowler, an artist, an excellent guitarist, and loved farming and folklore. He was voted King of the Ashland County Fair in 2004.
Surviving are two sons, Garry Cathy Dishong of Mansfield and Larry Dishong of Dayton; five grandchildren, Beth Ann Bill Godby of Shelby, Barbara Jo Keith Hayslip of Mansfield, Brett Lettie Dishong of Cyprus, TX, Brian Maria Dishong of S. Milwaukee, WI and Shane Dishong of Mansfield; 11 great grandchildren; two step daughters, Joy Carl Chapman of Polk and Cheryl Westfal of Homersville, OH; and numerous step grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Josephine Dishong in April 1990; his second wife Emma Dishong in September 2003; and his third wife, Velma Dishong in April 2006.
Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. Monday, June 26, 2006, at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors. Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 27, 2006, at the funeral home with Pastor Doug Tackett officiating. Burial will be in Mansfield Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society.
