
Robert Orval Flood, 72, of Mansfield died early Friday morning, November 14, 2003 at his home. He was born December 24, 1930 in Brinkhaven, Ohio to Steven Bricker and Dorothy Leona Flood. Bob retired from the Mansfield City Police Department in 1984 and then served as a Richland County Deputy Sheriff. He then worked as a bailiff for Common Pleas Court Judge James D. Henson, retiring in 1995. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police, and Model A Club. Bob's hobby was restoring old cars and furniture. He served during the Korean War with the U.S. Army.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, G. Joan Crawford Flood; two daughters and sons-in-law, Arlene and William Corwin of Ashland and Dorothy and Timothy Pittenger of Mansfield; five grandchildren and their spouses, Michael C. and Robyn Corwin, Mark A. and Angie Corwin, Robert D. Hardesty, Craig A. Hardesty and Tiffany M. Hardesty; five great-grandchildren and one more arriving soon; four brothers, Harold Strouse and Donald Strouse, both of Florida, George Bricker of Kipton, Ohio and Robert Bricker of Oberlin, Ohio; four sisters, Anita Kalista of Cleveland, Stephanie Hoffman of Florida, Christine Wallace of Cleveland, and Melissa Blaylock of Illinois; and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and one sister.
Friends may call at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, Monday, November 17, 2003 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home officiated by Chaplain Rich Rader. Military graveside services will follow in Mt. Zion Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or Hospice of North Central Ohio.
