
Robert L. Grove, Sr., 89, of Mansfield, died Tuesday, February 22, 2011, at his residence. Born June 19, 1921, in Logan, Ohio, he was the son of Lee Ralph and Margaret Meldrin Grove. He moved to Mansfield at the age of 9 and graduated from Mansfield Senior High School in 1939. He retired from Westinghouse in 1980 after 40 years of service and was a veteran of the United States Army serving during World War II in the Battle of the Bulge. He was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ, the American Legion and the WBCCI Mohican Valley Airstream Club. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed traveling in his Airstream with his wife of 52 years. He had wintered in Florida at Travelers Rest in Dade City since 1983. He loved being with his family and especially enjoyed watching his granddaughter's volleyball games. He could fix anything and always had his tools ready for anyone that asked.
Surviving are a son, Robert Kathleen Grove, Jr. of Mansfield; a daughter, Carol Jerold Jamieson of Dayton; three granddaughters, Amy Dan Studer of Galion, Lindsey Grove and Brittany Grove both of Mansfield; a brother-in-law, Dave Gloria Moysi of Mansfield; a great aunt-in-law, Helen Lincoln of Mansfield; and a host of very close nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Anna E. Moysi Grove in 1999 whom he married July 18, 1947; and a sister, Lois Bowman in 2004.
Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. Thursday, February 24, 2010, at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 98 S. Diamond St., Mansfield. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, February 25, 2011, at the funeral home conducted by Rev. Stephen Mortach. Burial will follow in Mansfield Memorial Park. Full military services will be conducted by the Richland County Veterans Burial Squad. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or the charity of the donor's choice.
