Robert Hill

Robert J. Hill, 74, of Mansfield, died early Thursday morning, April 20, 2006, at Mount Carmel West Hospital in Columbus after an extended illness. Born October 23, 1931, in Clintwood, Virginia, he was the son of Burney B. and Mary Jane Green Hill. A Mansfield area resident most of his life, he retired after 29 years of service at Empire Detroit Steel Mill. Mr. Hill enjoyed the outdoors and was a veteran of the Korean War.

He is survived by two sons, Michael Laura Hill of Mansfield and Jeffrey Jodie Hill of Delaware; two daughters, Virginia Davidson of Bellville and Jessie Hill of Crestline; thirteen grandchildren, Shannon, Joshua and Rebecca Davidson, Ashley, Sean, Myka, Mason and Amanda Hill, Brett Westfield, Terry, Fallon, Misty and Joshua Taylor; four great-grandchildren, Kaden Burton, Carlee Hardin, Trae Lee Taylor, Levi Cross; sister, Sue Moonie of Clintwood, Va., and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Ray, Adron 'Uncle Shag' and Tex Hill.

Friends may call Sunday, April 23, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors. Funeral services will be held Monday at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
