
Robert "Bob" A. Meadows Sr., 75, of Sullivan, Ohio, passed away Friday morning, September 18, 2015, at Lodi Community Hospital. He was born August 25, 1940, in Glenwood, West Virginia, to the late James M. and Malvina (Holly) Meadows.
Bob moved to Ohio in the late 1950s and was a former resident of Elyria before settling in Sullivan, Ohio. A hard-working man, Bob retired from Ford Motor Company in Lorain and was a self-employed truck driver for 20 years. He married Helen Talarsky in 1961 and was a wonderful husband and father. Family was most important to Bob and he enjoyed traveling to West Virginia to visit with extended family and friends.
An outdoor man, he enjoyed hunting, fishing-especially in his new pond-and taking care of the farm. He was a member of the AKC Beagle Club where he competed with his dogs and had an AKC Purina Grand Champion. Bob traveled all over Ohio, Michigan and Pennsylvania for AKC events.
Bob was a member of the Venus Masonic Lodge # 152 F. & A.M. in Mansfield, Moose Club in Ashland, and the Northern Ohio Beagle Club in West Salem.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Helen Meadows; two sons, Robert Meadows, Jr. (Annette Splenda) and Ronald Meadows (Brenda Lamorie); three grandchildren, Melissa Meadows, Robert Meadows III and Abby Meadows; six great grandchildren, Ashton, Jackson and Logan Meadows, Jasz'Mirae, Jau'Vianna and Journee Meadows; and sister, Bessie Carper.
In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by six siblings, Gordon Meadows, James Meadows, Dorothy Wallace, Ruby Pinkerman, Audrey Jacobs and Mary Caldwell.
The family will receive friends from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday, September 22, 2015, in the Ashland Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 308 Claremont Avenue with Masonic services recited at 7:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held in the funeral home Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. Burial will be in East Pittsfield Cemetery, Pittsfield, Ohio. Memorial contributions may be made at the funeral home in care of the family.
