Robert Ramey

Robert J. Ramey, 74, of Mansfield, died Monday, February 20, 2006 at his home. He was born December 18, 1931 in Portsmouth, Ohio. Mr. Ramey served with the U.S. Army in the Korean War and retired from Empire Detroit Steel. He was a member of the Sons of Herman, the V.F.W. Post # 9943, and the Fraternal Order of the Eagles. Mr. Ramey also volunteered for the Richland County Joint Veterans Burial Detail.

He is survived by one daughter, Vanessa Merza of Alexandria, Virginia; one son, Barry Ramey of Columbus; five grandchildren; two brothers; one sister; numerous nieces and nephews; one sister-in-law, Sally Hullinger of Crestline; and his faithful dog, Sissy. He was preceded in death by his wife, Charlotte J. Croy Ramey; one son, Brian Ramey; parents; four brothers; and two sisters.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, February 24, 2006 at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home conducted by Pastor Wayne Castle. Military graveside services conducted by the Joint Veterans Burial Detail will follow in Mansfield Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family.
