

Robert Lee Salsgiver, Sr., 83, died Saturday November 6, 2004 at Mifflin Care Center, Mansfield from an extended illness. He was born March 6, 1921 in Butler to the late Charles and Gertrude Browning Salsgiver, and resided in Mansfield most of his life. Mr. Salsgiver served with the U.S. Navy in World War II. He retired as a carpenter in 1981 and had worked for Madison Trailer Park from 1981 to 1999. He was a member of Lincoln Heights Baptist Church for 30 years.
Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Marjorie Berg Salsgiver; two daughters, Shirley Wharton and Luann Gary Watson, all of Mansfield; two stepdaughters, Linda James Perry and Peggy Gene Mosier, all of Mansfield; one brother, James Vivann Salsgiver; one sister, Vi Salsgiver; two sisters-in-law, Carmen Salsgiver and Mildred Prion; eight grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; one great great granddaughter; several cousins, nieces and nephews; special friend Bret Atkinson and family; and his loved pet cats, BoBo and Tuffy. He was preceded in death by a son, Robert Lee Salsgiver, Jr.; one brother, Chuck Salsgiver; sisters, Dottie Shupe, Mary Weiland, and Helen Jarvis; grandson, Michael Williams; and father and mother-in-law, George and Donna Berg.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday November 10 with Pastor John Napier, former pastor, and Pastor Mike Wilson of the Lincoln Heights Baptist Church officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to the service, from 12 to 1 p.m. at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors. Military graveside services will follow in Mansfield Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to the family.
