Robert Sasser

Robert S. Sasser, age 71, of 86 So. Linden Road, died unexpectedly Thursday afternoon June 15, 2000 at MedCentral/Mansfield Hospital. Mr. Sasser was born January 22, 1929 in Connerville, Indiana living in the Mansfield area since 1956. He retired from General Motors after 38.7 years of service. Mr. Sasser was a member of Central United Methodist Church, United Auto Workers, Square Dancing - ''Johnny Appleseeds'', an avid golfer and a veteran of the United Naval States Reserves.

Surviving are his wife, Nadine Sasser of Mansfield; two sons and daughters-in-law, Richard & Gwin Sasser of Peru, Indiana, Robert & Debie Sasser of Palm Bay, Florida; two daughters and a son-in-law, Becki Hilborn of Pickerington, Ohio and Patricia & Brett Bickley of Hillard, Ohio; fourteen grandchildren, Stephany Coate, Staci Hilborn, Megan Seitz, Niki Sasser, Amanda Hilborn, Joel Sasser, Jessi Hilborn, Emily Sasser, Ben Sasser, Kyle Hilborn, Michael & Matthew Bickley, Christie Alexander, Tiffany Sasser; two great-grandchildren, Ethan Martin, Devon Coate; two sisters, Nancy Benis of Montgomery, Alabama and Gertrude Raines of Winchester, Indiana; a brother, Bill Sasser of Encino, California; and several nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, George & Mary Traylor Sasser; a daughter, Julie K. Sasser and a sister, Virginia Brown.

Friends may call at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors Sunday from 2-4 p.m. Funeral services will be held Monday at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home, conducted by Rev. Rose Wilson. Burial will be in Mansfield Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or Central United Methodist Church.
