
Robert Edwin Sutton, 78, went home to be with the Lord Friday, October 16, 2009 at Hospice of North Central Ohio. Born December 17, 1930 in Mansfield, he was the son of Ray F. and Gladys M. Flannigan Sutton. He was a 1948 graduate of Mansfield Senior High School and attended Cook Rd. Baptist Church. Robert retired after 40 years as a meat cutter working at various groceries such as Farmers Market, T&A Saveway, and Foodtown. His favorite pastime was fishing and spending vacations camping on Lake Erie.
He is survived by his life partner of 26 years, David Chandler; four sons, Michael Melissa Sutton of Madison, Mark Patty Sutton of Woodland, PA, John Sutton of Lorain, and Scott Angie Sutton of Ocala, FL; grandchildren, David Sutton of Brookpark, Amanda Sutton of Woodland, PA; Daniel, Lauren, and Katelyn Sutton of Ocala, FL; step grandchildren, Mark and Marissa Steele of Madison; 3 step great grandchildren; sister, Pauline Bautz of FL; brothers-in-law, Gailin Myers of Mansfield, Robert Wilson of Ashland; former wives, Sally J. Phelps King and Jean Kennard Price; and his dog, Abby. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Virginia Myers and Jeanette Wilson.
Friends may call Tuesday, October 20, 2009 from 5-7 p.m. at the Diamond St. Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 98 S. Diamond St., Mansfield. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 21, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home, conducted by Pastor Henry Parker. Burial will be held at 1:00 p.m. at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Newark, Ohio.
